Sports Reporter

The Daily Herald is seeking an experienced sports reporter to help spearhead our coverage of high school athletics in Snohomish County, a topic of great importance to our Pacific Northwest readership.

The ideal candidate is a clear, concise and prolific writer who excels at producing a variety of written and online content that continues The Herald’s strong tradition of prep sports coverage. This includes game coverage, feature stories, breaking news, in-depth enterprise stories, season previews, All-Area teams and more. Experience with promoting content on most major social media platforms is a plus. This reporter will be an expert on Snohomish County prep sports, working closely with our other high school sports reporter to cover a robust preps scene that includes more than 25 high schools.

Being a self-starter is a must, as the reporter will be expected to generate story ideas, help plan game coverage and juggle multiple assignments at once. The reporter should also be comfortable taking video and producing video highlights to enhance their game coverage. The reporter might also be called on to help with page design, so previous page design experience is a plus, but not required.

In addition to covering high school sports, the reporter will also be called on to produce other Snohomish County-related sports coverage as needed.

We are located in Everett, a vibrant and growing community 30 miles north of downtown Seattle, framed by breathtaking views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Cascade Range to the east.
