The Breaking/Trending Reporter in the Features department is responsible for writing on the arts, entertainment and pop culture news D-FW readers are most eager to read, from Post Malone’s latest collaborations to King of the Hill reboots, Yellowstone updates and Dolly Parton appearances. This is a fast-paced, quick-turn job focused on breaking news, what’s trending and expanding the conversations readers are having online. Ideal candidates will be well-versed in using social media to generate pitches and report stories. They will also bring knowledge of TV, pop music, movies and more. In addition to original reporting and on-scene coverage, this reporter will also repackage existing stories on local arts, culture and events with an eye toward audience engagement.

Responsibilities and duties:

Write quickly and accurately on a variety of arts and entertainment topics, with a local focus
Use social media as a tool to develop story ideas and respond to what our audience is already talking about
Build stories with links, tags, SEO best practices, attractive web headlines and multimedia when appropriate
Monitor analytics for stories across the Features section and work with editors to suggest approaches for improvement
Collaborate with other Features reporters to improve the digital presentation of their stories
Work with editors to develop new models for coverage that resonates with our digital audience
Assist with special digital projects, including video and audio projects, as needed
