The Dickinson Press is searching for an experienced reporter or exceptional recent graduate to join our newsroom as a General Assignments Reporter. This reporter will be responsible for bringing community-driven, professional and hyper-local focused news to the Western Edge of North Dakota.
Our ideal candidate will be comfortable constantly moving from one story to the next and reading digital analytics to produce the best, most engaging work for our readers.
We’re looking for a resourceful and energetic self-starter who can manage multiple assignments and write in an attention-grabbing style. In addition, you should be savvy with multimedia and social media platforms, have a knack for writing on topics and issues of interest to younger readers, and be able to work with the newsroom’s multimedia teams to present stories in the most effective way possible.
The Dickinson Press' legacy is deeply rooted in harnessing the power of communication to connect and inform people in the communities we serve. Since 1883, everything we do is driven by creating and sharing information, ideas and insights.
Today, we're a part of a leading media and technology company spread across the Midwest that's home to a family of people whose passion and purpose is fueled by collaboration and innovation. We believe in supporting each other, working hard towards common goals and having fun.
Come for the perks: Excellent employee culture, competitive pay, 401(k), company-paid volunteer time, health and wellness initiatives for all employees. Additional perks for full-time positions include: comprehensive benefits package, generous paid time off, paid holidays and paid time-off for birthday, paid parental and pregnancy disability leave for qualifying employees.
Stay for the peace of mind: In continuous operation since 1883, we are the longest running business in our community and have a great reputation with the people, businesses and entities that comprise the Western Edge of North Dakota. Deep in the heart of western North Dakota along a wide valley on the Heart River, halfway between the Missouri River and the Montana border is a land where the prairie flourishes in a rugged and rolling landscape of wild grasses and badlands. It is where amber waves of grain dance in the winds and free-grazing cattle lead peaceful lives on the calm silences of the range. It is here that Southwest North Dakota residents have always enjoyed the uncrowded, expansive landscapes and warm hospitality that has made this gem of a location consistently ranked as one of the safest American destinations. Hunting for big game or birds, fishing our lakes and streams, hiking, biking, boating or horseback riding – whatever you like to do outdoors, the Western Edge is where you can do it.
