Senior reporters drive The Drum’s editorial coverage day to day. In this role, you’ll be expected to regularly deliver exclusive stories pertaining to your beat, produce sharp and timely analysis on topical issues, and represent The Drum in the industry a key member of our team.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively finding and writing exclusive stories on the beat you’ve been assigned
Producing timely and considered analysis on topical trends and developments
Taking responsibility for your content pillar and ensuring it’s delivering for readers
Pitching ideas for stories, features and columns to your editor
Writing and editing a weekly beat newsletter and supporting your team’s daily newsletters
Frequently calling and where appropriate meeting key contacts to uncover what’s really happening in the industry
Supporting colleagues from other teams with your specialist expertise, growing your presence within The Drum and contributing to wider company efforts
Continuously honing your network to build your reputation as the go-to industry journalist for your chosen subject
Appearing on camera, panels and podcasts for The Drum sharing your knowledge and bringing attention to your reporting
Requirements
Track record of writing impactful news and analysis
Able to unearth strong stories and identify timely trends
Can write engaging, clean copy, to a high standard, and to deadline
Can communicate confidently inside and outside the business
Finds fresh ways of digging into the industry’s biggest issues and standing out from rival coverage
Understanding of social media platforms, using them to find contacts and enhance reputation
