The Epoch Times is seeking experienced Freelance Sports News Reporters to create and write original sports content for our website, TheEpochTimes.com. You can identify newsworthy stories and produce original and exclusive reporting from a wide variety of sources. Areas of focus are football, baseball, basketball, golf, hockey, and tennis.
Duties
- Write and produce sports stories in an interesting, engaging way, appealing to both hardcore and casual fans.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, such as sports organizations and athletes, to gather exclusive and high-profile interviews (preferred but not required for every article).
- Research topics, vet leads for credibility and relevance, fact-check, and provide SEO-friendly headlines.
- Conceive and develop new, in-depth sports content that can captivate an audience.
- Accept and apply feedback from the editorial team to enhance the quality of your work.
Job Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in writing content for print or the web, focusing on sports journalism.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Familiarity with the sports landscape and a keen understanding of current sports events and trends.
- Solid news judgment and a commitment to excellent journalism ethics.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, or a related field.
Skills
- Write clearly and concisely.
- Ability to develop engaging, in-depth sports articles that resonate with our audience.
- Perform effectively under tight deadlines without compromising the quality of work.
- Efficient and productive work habits.
