Data Journalist

The European Correspondent is a new European media start-up. There is a significant lack of true European media across the continent, with those existing either focusing on the European Union only or reporting on niche topics. We are here to change that.

We're starting a new data visualisation desk and are looking for creative, talented, and reliable data journalists who want to invest at least five hours per week. As part of a small team, you’ll be responsible for brainstorming and visualising data stories for our social media channels and newsletters, directly influencing our chance of success.

Tasks

Developing The European Correspondent's unique visual language through market and competition analysis
Conducting thorough research and identifying stories worth telling through data visualisation
Collaborating with reporters and editors to create data-driven narratives.
Visualising stories for our social media channels and newsletters, similar to Europe.Magazine on Instagram
Being an active member of our data desk

Your profile

Experience in data analysis and visualisation
Skills in data visualisation tools are preferred
Keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy
Ability to interpret complex data and present it in an understandable manner
You like to think big and don’t shy away from presenting bold ideas
You have strong English-language skills, and other languages are a bonus
