The business reporter will cover a variety of business, technology and personal finance news in the Pikes Peak region; help cover business news statewide; investigate and report about business legal and ethics issues; and explore and localize national business trends.
The reporter will produce a high volume of engaging content that helps drive readership, engagement and revenue. This position will work independently while being a part of a team of journalists. The reporter will focus business but may work on a variety of content including breaking news, general, investigative and other assignments.
The Gazette is part of Clarity Media's network of publications, which also includes The Denver Gazette, Colorado Politics, OutThere Colorado, and The Washington Examiner in Washington, D.C. We frequently collaborate across brands, with content and with resources. Clarity Media has the largest journalism staff in the state of Colorado.
This reporter’s work schedule will include nights and weekends and is based in the Colorado Springs newsroom.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Convey business news and tell stories in creative ways, using multiple tools – including writing, social media, photos and video.
Cover breaking business and other news for digital and print platforms.
Work independently as well as collaboratively with a team to execute creative concepts for stories.
Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions and suggest story ideas.

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:
At least 2 years of news experience preferred.
Proficiency in digital journalism.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Bachelor’s degree.
