Under the direction of the Denver City Editor, the Business Reporter covers a variety of business, technology and personal finance news in the Denver metro region and statewide; investigate legal and ethical issues in the business community; and, explore and localize national business trends.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Write daily and enterprise business stories for The Denver Gazette, Colorado Politics and other Clarity publications
Report on breaking business news
Cover trends in business at the local, statewide and national levels
Develop a wide range of sources in the business community within metro Denver and Colorado
Collaborate and maintain strong working relationships with Denver Gazette staff, as well with Colorado Politics and Colorado Springs Gazette?
Coordinate with colleagues on content, visual, digital and audience operations to present and promote business stories
Ensure that journalism standards are followed, notably accuracy and objectivity
Consistently meet deadlines
Serve as liaison for customers, sources and other community members

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree
At least 5 years of daily news experience is preferred
Experience on a newsroom reporting beat is preferred
Prior business or technology reporting experience is a plus, but not required
Understanding of Denver’s business community is strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
Knowledge of libel law and other legal issues
Self-starter, multitasker and clear communicator
