$50,000.00 To 60,000.00 Annually
Job Summary:
A key member of the Colorado Politics team, the Colorado Politics reporter provides content in the form of breaking news, daily news, as well as investigative and enterprise stories for our weekly magazine. The reporter also produces stories for political tipsheets.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Write daily and weekly stories for coloradopolitics.com, Colorado Politics magazine and political tipsheets.
Report on breaking political news.
Write cover and inside stories for Colorado Politics magazine.
Cover elections at the municipal, legislative, statewide and congressional levels.
Write about environment, housing, transportation, education, economy, state budget, workforce development and other topics.
Write about the governor’s office and state agencies.
Develop a wide range of political sources at the state Capitol.
Collaborate and maintain strong working relationships with other Colorado Politics staff, as well with The Denver Gazette and Colorado Springs Gazette.
Develop and maintain good relations with the local community.

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or mass communications
3-5 years’ experience as a multimedia journalist, preferably covering city or state government, or state legislature

Strong editing skills.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends at times to cover breaking news.
