Salary Range:
$50,000.00 To 55,000.00 Annually
The Photo Journalist/Photo Editor will churn out a high volume of engaging content that helps drive views and expand audience, shooting 90% of the time and editing the other 10%. This person is responsible for hiring freelancers when needed. This position will work independently while being a part of a team of veteran photographers/videographers. The photojournalist/photo editor may work on a variety of content including breaking, general, sport, features, investigative and political news.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Convey news and tell stories in creative ways using high-quality photo and video.
Cover breaking, general, sports, features, investigative and political news stories producing, shooting and editing compelling photos for digital and social media platforms.
Work independently as well as collaboratively with a team to execute creative concepts for stories.
Use various lighting techniques and equipment to create the optimal video product.
Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions and suggest story ideas.
Responsible for generating photos for the daily online Denver Gazette.

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:
2 – 5 years of photojournalist experience preferred.
Solid experience using DSLR's
Experience using Photoshop, Photo Mechanic and Premiere Pro is required
Technical knowledge using video equipment

Proven ability to shoot eye-catching photos and compelling live video with an eye for smart, interesting – often counterintuitive - content
Demonstrated social media proficiency, especially in the field, including an active news hound presence on Facebook and Twitter.
Ability to distinguish what appeals to an audience to help the strongest stories reach the largest audience.
Eager to experiment with visual storytelling across multiple platforms.
Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
Ability to shoot stills.
Experience with live software.
