As Deputy Digital Editor, you'll assist with running the day's digital output, working closely with desk editors and the digital editing team to respond in smart, imaginative ways to stories throughout the day, ensuring the Guardian's website and apps are the best showcase for our varied and innovative journalism.
About the Role
Deputise for the head of digital (live) as necessary and manage the team of homepage editors.
Manage the UK, Europe and International homepages on a day-to-day basis.
Send breaking news alerts and oversee live blogs.
Work with design, visuals, video, community and audience teams to ensure the best possible expression of the Guardian's digital output.
Work with planning teams and different desks to schedule content and to ensure meticulous preparation for coverage of live news events
Attend planning and ideas meetings to ensure the Guardian's digital needs are reflected in commissioning decisions.
About You
Significant experience of a live newsroom, at a national, international, regional or local organisation
Strong interest in and awareness of national and international news
Understanding of the Guardian's digital presence and output
Experience of editing homepages and articles
Understanding and knowledge or analytics, search and other measurements of digital audience and targets
Strong record of creativity and innovation in digital journalism
Good knowledge of social media
Ideally, you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role
