The Henderson Dispatch, a three-day a week newspaper in Henderson, North Carolina seeks an Editor. This is a full-time position and reports directly to the publisher. We are looking for someone who has a passion for local journalism and a strong sense of community and an interest in the community members we serve. Primary duties will include, but not limited to general oversight of reporters, making and delegating news assignments, weekly planning and news budgets, editing local copy and holding reporters accountable to a high standard of performance, writing columns and editorials, news reporting, managing online platforms and other duties as assigned. This is a “hands-on” position and will actively represent the newspaper at public venues.

Minimum Requirements: Four-year degree with a concentration in journalism preferred. Minimum of five years full-time newspaper experience including reporting and photography. Must possess excellent writing and verbal skills and strong interpersonal skills. Must be proficient in AP style. Pagination skills are not a requirement.

Henderson is located only a short drive to the research triangle of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. In addition, you can wake up and decide to take a day trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway or to the beautiful, sandy beaches on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast.
