The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, seeks an Audience Engagement Producer to join our newsroom.
This is a great opportunity to join a growing team during an exciting time in national politics.
This position is in the Audience team and works within the newsroom to produce and promote content that is timely and engaging to our national audience. The preference is for a Washington D.C. based candidate however we are also open to Mountain and Pacific time zones candidates if they are the right fit.
You will contribute to The Hill’s growth by amplifying our journalism and by helping reporters and editors capitalize on search and social trends.
We’re looking for someone who can:
Communicate story ideas with editors and provide feedback in real time.
Post breaking news across multiple platforms (Social Media, Email, App Alerts).
Lead and make decisions in a breaking news environment. Notice trends early and build content around developing stories.
Write clean, concise copy on tight deadlines (i.e. SEO Content and Breaking News Stubs).
We're looking for a candidate who is up to date on everything from TiKTok trends to YouTube reels and can help grow our social presence on video-focused apps.
Candidates should have these skills and qualifications:
Fast, accurate, detail-oriented writing skills.
Bachelor's degree in journalism or communications experience working in a newsroom.
Excellent communicator who works well as part of a team.
Experience posting across multiple social media platforms and creating video content.
Experience selecting news content for multiple distribution channels. Experienced communicating in a brand voice (i.e. writing professional social media posts). Proficient with traffic and engagement software (e.g. Chartbeat, SocialFlow, Google Analytics, Later, Google Search Console).
