The Hollywood Reporter, known for its award-winning journalism, is hiring a dynamic editor to join its team and drive the news coverage for the site. We are seeking a deadline driven editor who works best in a collaborative environment that is fast-paced, energetic and focused on 24-7 news production. We’re looking for someone with excellent management and interpersonal skills that inspire passion, dedication and excellence from others.
The Executive Editor of News will be tasked with coordinating the entirety of THR’s resources with the goal of being the first, right and the authoritative voice for entertainment industry news. The editor will work with a team of writers and editors to cover breaking news, develop sharp articles and analyses and engaging features, all with the goal of further strengthening THR.com as the top destination for the industry insiders and entertainment fans.
The editor will also curate the other digital products, including newsletters, as well coordinating its social media production with the social media team. The editor will not only guide coverage but edit copy and help in the reporting process when needed. A key part of the job will also be ensuring a top-notch visual presentation for the website is maintained at all times, and maintaining a multiplatform approach that extends to print, online and video.
The Executive Editor of News must have excellent knowledge of the business of entertainment, strong contacts, and experience in managing a team of journalists.
Ten to 15 years as an entertainment editor at a major publication is required, with a strong preference for someone with a daily journalism/website background.
Excellent editing and writing skills are a must.
Must also be proficient in WordPress.
Must be extremely knowledgeable in analyzing data and working with analytics/SEO teams to ensure performance on site, as well as across multiple digital platforms.
Typical wage range: $170k - $200k. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
