Data Reporter

The successful candidate will work quickly but responsibly on data stories that help readers understand and explore their communities through unique reporting, data analysis and interactive graphics creation. They should have relevant data experience in a modern newsroom.

We’re seeking a self-starter with high standards who can collaborate well, has excellent communication skills, and is comfortable providing and taking feedback.

What you'll be doing:

Report and write data-driven articles with a heavy emphasis on graphics
Perform data analysis for collaborative stories and apps
Support and further data literacy in the newsroom

How you'll be doing it:

Writing code (R, Python, javascript) or using high-level spreadsheet skills to analyze, clean and join large datasets
Use tools like Datawrapper and Flourish to craft concise, informative graphics
Write and maintain clean documentation
Use personal organization skills and project management tools to manage multiple stories at once
Show an excitement for and dedication to learning new ways to analyze and display data
