Money and Power Reporter

New Posted 4 December 2023 | San Francisco, California, United States; New York, New York, United States | The Information

The Information was founded in late 2013 with a simple idea: write deeply reported articles about the technology industry that you won't find elsewhere. Since then, we've become a disruptor in business news that’s moved markets, gotten the early scoop on billions of dollars of acquisitions, and told you what's happening inside companies like Apple, Meta and Google. As a subscription-only publication, we aim high and take on challenging stories and adhere to the highest of journalistic standards. What we put into the work is just as in-depth as our output. We've attracted hundreds of thousands of active readers who look to us for breaking news stories and impactful features. As we look to expand our coverage in alignment with the needs of our subscribers, we continue to invest aggressively in our team.

We’re looking for a veteran, in-their-prime feature writer to join the growing team behind The Information’s Weekend section. This person will help extend The Information’s brand of ambitious, in-depth reporting to its weekly tech-culture magazine, including incisive interviews with CEOs and creators; investigative pieces on executives and investors; deep dives into workplace culture; and scene reports on the era’s most zeitgeist-defining cultural trends. A minimum of five years’ professional experience reporting on tech and business and other nexuses of power are necessary.

Responsibilities:

Write hard-hitting longform features that seek to answer the following: Who’s calling the shots in technology? How are they influencing the larger culture? And what are the power dynamics propping them up or tearing them down?

Contribute shorter feature stories about industry and cultural trends, obsession-worthy new consumer products and tech services, and tech-adjacent happenings in the arts, media and entertainment.

Collaborate with the Weekend editor on our flagship Saturday newsletter.

Produce ideas for and help execute on recurring editorial franchises, themed packages, and topical reader surveys.

Attend and potentially moderate panels and conversations at in-person subscriber events.

Requirements include:

5+ years professional experience reporting on tech and business and other nexuses of power are necessary.

Benefits:

Company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents

Basic life insurance

Generous paid leave that increases over time

A parental leave policy for new parents

401(k) plan with company match

Flexible Spending Account

Additional benefits include commuter benefits, gym and fitness stipend, and phone reimbursement

A highly professional, inclusive, diverse workplace with a zero-tolerance policy for harassment

Salary Range: $80,000 -$160,000 USD Annually + Bonus + Benefits
