Salary: $55,000-$70,000 commensurate with experience
J. The Jewish News of Northern California (J.) is seeking a full-time general assignment reporter to join its award-winning team of journalists covering and informing the Jewish communities of the Bay Area and beyond.
J. covers breaking news of critical importance to the Jewish community, as well as community news affecting the day-to-day. The successful applicant is comfortable with a range of assignments and working with different personalities. J. values enterprise journalism and supports journalists taking the time to develop sources around the Bay. This position is based in San Francisco; most newsroom employees work a hybrid schedule and meet at our office once a week; the entire staff attends an all-hands meeting once a month.
Qualifications:
Professional news reporting experience
Compelling and colorful writing style
Ability to turn around stories quickly, on deadline
Experience interviewing multiple sources and producing a story with insight, accuracy and balance
Some knowledge of Jewish life and news affecting the Jewish community, including Israel, is preferred
Knowledge about Bay Area Jewish communities a plus
