Senior Reporter

The Journal Gazette, the largest news-gathering organization in Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana, has an opening for an energetic, aggressive reporter to cover local government and general assignment.

The successful candidate will be an individual with:

An ability to develop rapport with a variety of sources on a range of story topics.
A track record of exercising good news judgment and identifying stories beyond news releases, including easily identifying follow-up stories – both for second day and longer-range enterprise
Ability to report accurately and write accurate, clear, and compelling stories
Demonstrated productivity
Ability to work well with other reporters, editors, and other staff
Ability to work well under deadline pressure
An interest in helping grow our readership through use of social media
An interest in professional growth and career development
Maturity to understand the evolving media landscape and the flexibility that requires
A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
At least two years of daily newspaper reporting experience
