The Journal Times, a division of Lee Enterprises, is an award-winning daily newspaper in southeast Wisconsin. We emphasize local news and a strong digital culture. We cover an urban, suburban and rural area. Racine County sits between Milwaukee and Chicago, and the City of Racine’s downtown is along the shores of Lake Michigan.
We’re looking for a versatile reporter excited to cover business developments across Racine County as well as general assignment stories as needed. Our preferred candidate would be someone who understands the impact local business has on a community, is able to dig deeper into the numbers behind Racine’s economy, and is able to develop sources from all corners of the county.
Daily responsibilities include writing, taking photos, shooting video, and staying on top of openings/closings and daily happenings that impact the local business scene and the community at large.
While this reporter’s primary beat will be business coverage, they also will need to be flexible and confident enough to take on general assignment duties as warranted.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments, and who is comfortable working and interacting with sources representing entities from start-ups to multinational corporations.
