Sports Writer

The Keene Sentinel, an independent, family-owned community news organization serving southwestern New Hampshire, seeks an enthusiastic and creative full-time sports writer. We're looking for a talented and resourceful person who plans to shine while giving our readers coverage – both on-field and through enterprise or feature stories -- of two successful NCAA programs, seven high schools, a wildly popular college wooden-bat summer league team and loads of community sports in sun and snow. The Sentinel, recently named 2022 New England Newspaper of the Year in its circulation class, is moving in exciting new directions in news and sports, both print and digital, and features an engaged, lively newsroom. The ideal candidate will help establish the proper balance among myriad content possibilities. The goal is to grow readership and embrace new ways to reach readers while preserving the company’s long commitment to quality journalism. The Sentinel publishes on its various digital platforms as well as in its six-day print newspaper. All staff share in the generation of digital and photo content, and the ideal candidate will have strong social media skills. The job also entails desk work; layout and design experience is a plus, but we can provide training.
