The Kitchn is looking for an Assistant Recipe Producer to join our team. We are seeking an organized and passionate individual who, under the direction of the Recipe Director, can provide hands-on assistance with producing recipe content for the site including regularly updating recipes and recipe roundups, maintaining The Kitchn’s vast recipe archive, and coordinating cross-tests.
This role is also responsible for writing and editing a high volume of recipe roundups and recipe introductory copy from The Kitchn archive, as well as voicey quick-hit recipe roundups. The Assistant Recipe Producer will take the lead in monitoring recipe reviews, comments, and community communication. Culinary confidence and strong editorial judgment are a must.
As Assistant Recipe Producer, this person will collaborate closely with The Kitchn food editors and culinary producers, as well as the SEO and studio teams.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with SEO teams, updating recipe roundups and recipes with best practices for SEO optimization and editorial standards
Ensure newly published recipes make it into relevant recipe roundups in a timely manner
Pitch and produce timely, relevant, service-driven roundups
Manage recipe reviews on the site, as well as reader inbox, fielding questions and responding to readers in a timely manner
Strategize on recipe ratings & reviews program
In partnership with Recipe Director and Senior Food Editor, coordinate retesting recipes from The Kitchn’s extensive archive
Update recipes with new photos shot in the studio
Contribute ideas to team brainstorms and pitch sessions
Requirements:
1-3 years experience in digital media and/or publishing (focus on food content a plus)
Strong writing skills and ability to speak to the home cook like a friend
Top-notch organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
A team player with a desire to collaborate across teams
Ability to balance multiple priorities and to quickly shift in in the face of new information and under tight deadlines
Passion for food and cooking
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000
The above represents the expected annual salary for this role. Ultimately, compensation is determined by level of experience, location, and other job-related factors.
