Must be able to work within our tech-centric platforms (Teams, Asana, WordPress), be willing to continually learn, adapt to a changing environment as unique needs arise, and step in where help is needed. Prior experience with WordPress is crucial. Must manage multiple projects/tasks in a structured environment without missing deadlines.
We're looking for a proficient editor passionate about improving content, educating readers, and enhancing article formatting on our sites. The ability to research and provide the best advice to writers is a must, as is the ability to vet existing content for accuracy and ensure it meets our guidelines.

The ability to meet deadlines and use excellent editorial judgment is crucial. Managing an editorial calendar is core to this job, as is helping craft engaging headlines. We have a robust publishing cadence and need a Copy Editor comfortable acting as quality control for The Manual. This position is paid per article edited, with an escalating pay scale based on the length and complexity of the article.
What You'll Do:
Collaborate with editorial staff on content strategy
Work with the editorial team to prioritize the production queue
Maintain a steady production flow for all content
Manage content production goals while maintaining first-class quality standards
Handle exceptions for content not matching criteria
Possess a keen eye for understanding the brand vision and content goals
Delegate assignments to writers as needed
Review content for completeness and quality
Route and monitor tasks throughout the content production pipeline (Asana and WordPress)
Editing articles according to production deadlines and quality standards
Oversee the quality of copy, including language/tone/voice
Handle exceptions and questions from freelance resources as it relates to the content

You Have:
2+ years of experience as an editor for online publications
Excellent writing and copy-editing skills
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work independently
Strong attention to detail
Experience with WordPress
Asana and Excel experience a plus
Knowledge of AP style
Admirable organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines
Ability to communicate and provide feedback effectively
Superior time management skills
