Sports Reporter

The Mitchell Republic, a digital-first newspaper in Mitchell, South Dakota, is seeking a sports reporter to add to our staff.

Our newspaper has a great reputation in South Dakota and is growing quickly with its digital readers. We also won the two largest awards, Sweepstakes and General Excellence, at the South Dakota Newspaper Association annual convention this year. We're a branch of Forum Communications Co., which is expanding its South Dakota reach with a new website at Sioux Falls Live and the aquisition of a TV station.

Simply put: We love sports and dedicate significant resources toward covering them in South Dakota. We produce an e-edition six days per week and have a print edition on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Our sports section is always full of local coverage and we're looking for new ways to evolve our top-tier content. In Mitchell, we cover 17 counties and find stories no one else is telling. We do journalism that matters and that connects with our readers.

This is a great opportunity for a young journalist who has a solid knowledge of sports and writing, or a sports reporting veteran looking for a chance of scenery.

The candidate either lives in South Dakota or is willing to relocate to the Rushmore state. If you can write or have a journalism degree, reach out and ask about the opening.
