Senior Editor

Founded in 1865 by abolitionists, The Nation today is a thriving progressive media outlet that publishes both a bi-weekly print magazine and a daily website covering politics, culture, and the arts. We are seeking a full-time senior editor, and strongly encourage candidates who identify as people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and/or gender nonconforming to apply. Although we are currently working remotely, and you should have the capability to do that, a successful candidate should also be prepared to work in our New York office when the pandemic ends. We’re looking for an experienced, inspiring, rigorous editor who knows The Nation well and has a track record of working with a variety of authors on both complex longform features and short, sharp comment pieces for print and web. We are particularly interested in candidates who are passionate and knowledgeable about US electoral politics or current political and social movements or about Black history, culture, and politics.
