The Graphics Desk at The New York Times is looking for an experienced editor to guide ambitious visual approaches to covering data-rich subjects. This editor will help manage and drive forward the visual presentation of The Times’s ambitious live election results operation, among other projects. This editor will primarily manage and lead small teams of visualization experts, reporters and developers to create compelling new approaches to graphics journalism. Many projects will involve assembling and leading teams to build large-scale data projects, which will include providing editorial guidance and a vision for a group with diverse journalistic and technical skills and experience. The Graphics Desk is a close-knit unit of visual thinkers with a shared vision to creatively cover the news and develop design solutions in a collaborative setting. The desk has led The Times’s coverage of election results and many other data projects, and is hiring an editor to expand its ambitions for this work.
