The New York Times Magazine and The Times’s Digital News Design group are seeking a creative front-end developer/designer to craft rich story experiences for our award-winning general-interest magazine. This developer will be responsible for building a wide range of digital projects, from custom article presentations to innovative multimedia features that experiment with emerging technologies and storyforms. This role will support and receive significant guidance from the magazine’s designers. It will also have a reporting line to the Digital News Design group in The Times’s newsroom, providing a larger community of peers. Candidates will have portfolios that demonstrate technical proficiency, solid understanding of visual design and a smart UX sensibility. Experience working in an editorial/newsroom environment is a plus. Candidates are expected to be quick learners with creative ideas and have the proven ability to work in highly collaborative environments. Design team members are expected not only to make exceptional contributions to our journalism, but also to engage with others to foster an environment of learning and constructive dialogue about our work.
