Media Reporter

The NYT Co seeks Media Reporter for NYC office to cover the news media industry, as well as the journalism produced by major news organizations across the country. Reqd: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Journalism or a closely related field and 5 years of experience working in the news media industry. Must have experience in/with: business and editorial departments of news media companies and how they are related to each other; writing deeply reported analytical articles as well as breaking news stories; writing and editing of briefing items; nurturing contacts throughout the news media industry; firm knowledge of how the news media business works, on both the financial and editorial sides; grasp of politics, culture and economics; and using a best in class editorial content management system, as well as using social media as a tool for not only broadcasting work but reporting and investigation. Role holder is eligible for a hybrid schedule and may be able to work remotely up to 60% of the work week as agreed by hiring manager. Must reside within commuting distance from office location.
