News Assistant, Events

The News Assistant, Events would be part of the events Programming team -- supporting the Director of Engagement -- to ensure our live journalism is distributed widely, but also to create the avenues for The Times to engage meaningfully with new and existing audiences. This will be a new role, as the Events team integrates its audience development efforts more closely with the rest of the Newsroom, cross-pollinating across a broad spectrum of news desks, with signature NYT newsletters, podcasts, and more. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, collaborative and diplomatic. While supervised by the Director and working with a supportive team, our ideal colleague also demonstrates initiative, creativity and --crucially-- an inquisitive desire to learn. We want to bring on a team member who is passionate about using events as a way to strengthen and expand the community of Times readers and preferably has experience working in a news environment.
