Politics Reporter, Southeast

New Posted 14 January 2022 | New York, NY | The New York Times

The New York Times Politics desk is seeking a talented, ambitious and experienced reporter to cover politics and state government across the Southeastern United States. The position is based in Atlanta. This reporter will follow major legislative and political storylines in the region, and own coverage of Georgia, a national battleground state, in the midterms and during the presidential campaign. Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate a deep interest in and knowledge of the Southeast and its history and an understanding of political, economic, social, environmental and cultural issues that are playing out across the region. We want someone who is a self-starter and craves getting out on the road, but also someone who thrives on collaborative work. Experience with breaking news and reporting on tight deadlines is key, but you should also be a versatile and skilled writer who can pull off larger conceptual pieces and ambitious features.
