T Magazine is seeking a strong and experienced editor to join our team as an Assistant Managing Editor. This person will work closely with editors, as well as the magazine’s design, photo, research, copy, production, and digital teams to plan, create and close the magazine in an efficient manner. The assistant managing editor will be the primary point of contact for everyone involved with shipping the magazine, and as such, should know the editorial process forwards and backwards. In addition to managerial responsibilities, the assistant managing editor should have a strong background in magazine production. The assistant managing editor can track many stories at various levels of completion with a strong understanding of what to prioritize. They will traffic all sections/stories/layouts for approvals and shipping. They will ensure that files are delivered to the printers on time, in the correct format, and every page meets our standards. They will work closely with the managing editor to schedule the magazine’s editorial calendar and production schedule. They will work closely with the advertising layout team as well as our printing specialists. They will oversee the production and workflow of T’s international edition. This person must be a clear and diplomatic communicator, able to prioritize and juggle various schedules and sometimes competing interests in order to achieve magazine deadlines for each ship date. There will be further editorial and production responsibilities based on the hire’s skills, interests and experience.
