Audio Producer, The Run-Up

New Posted 5 December 2022 | New York, NY | The New York Times

“The Daily'' led a revolution in the narrative news podcast space. Now, NYT Audio is seeking to broaden its reach inside the newsroom. As part of that, we recently brought back The Run Up, our politics show, in the lead up to the midterms. We are looking for a producer to help with its ambitious next season, heading into the 2024 presidential election. You will be joining as the team asks the question — what do people need to understand about this country and American politics in this moment, and how do we go about exploring that in audio? In developing new programming, NYT Audio has always asked — how does this want to sound and why? We are looking for candidates who are eager to help answer those questions, who are excited to push audio into new spaces and find new ways to bring journalism and ideas to life in a way that best fits the story they are telling and the listener needs. In this role, you’ll create audio episodes from ideation to execution, including research, booking, recording in the studio and/or field, cutting tape and shaping raw material into a compelling listen. You’ll help direct the host and guests in the studio and remote locations, work with editorial figures from both NYT Audio and desks in the newsroom as well as manage an editorial calendar, juggle immediate priorities and longer-term ambitions. You should also bring a spirit of collaboration and a willingness to create bold new work in audio.
