Times Opinion is looking for a seasoned editor to lead our coverage of business, economics and technology. This editor needs to be creative and versatile, able to work with the world’s leading economists and business people, as well as with small-business owners, social scientists and workers of all kinds to dig into the most urgent issues of the day. This editor will work with colleagues across Opinion, including our award-winning graphics and video teams, to develop storytelling that is agenda-setting, thought-provoking and accessible. We’re looking for someone with wide-ranging experience and sharp editorial judgment, who can help non-journalists translate their writing into clear, absorbing prose and develop insightful pieces and illuminating arguments about major ongoing issues like inflation, unemployment, the labor market, Covid’s impact on the economy, and the future of work and the workplace. A background in business reporting and economics is a plus but not a requirement; a passion for the subject matter is. This editor must be a team player, able to collaborate with other editors and our audience team to find ways to deepen our engagement with Times readers and find new audiences for our work.
