The Metro desk of The New York Times is looking for a deputy editor who will help scale the Times' broad range of visual and digital storytelling, at the enterprise and daily coverage level. This editor will help shape the way the desk tells digital stories, ensuring that our journalism is presented and shared in its best form, whether text, photo, video, interactive or a combination of, ensuring reader engagement. The editor will play a key role in editorial decisions ranging from what we cover to how we allocate resources and determine staffing needs. Candidates should possess a combination of traditional editing skills, design sophistication and development expertise as well as the metabolism to help run breaking news coverage and the focus to deliver slow-developing enterprise. Original, flexible, critical thinkers who communicate and collaborate well with a wide range of contributors and stakeholders will thrive. This editor will report to the Metro editor.
