Deputy Finance Editor

New Posted 15 December 2022 | New York, NY | The New York Times

The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. It’s why we have a newsroom that’s 1,700 strong and sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. It’s why we focus deeply on how our readers will experience our journalism, from print to audio to a world-class digital and app destination. And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for. The New York Times is looking for an experienced editor to join our finance team. This editor would work closely with the finance editor to help edit, polish and elevate coverage of the biggest financial news of the day and explain its impact on our lives. The scope of finance coverage at The Times is wide, and includes news and features about big Wall Street banks, giant investment funds and billionaire investors, as well as white collar crime, retail traders, consumer finances and the stock market. The subject matter is often complicated, and a key part of the job is translating complex financial or legal concepts -- often on deadline -- into language that is simple and accessible to a broad general readership.
