The New York Times is looking for a congressional correspondent to cover politics, policy and national issues on Capitol Hill. The reporter should have the confidence to write with authority about one of the most important beats in Washington and on a changing institution that touches on virtually every aspect of American life. Experience covering Washington is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate should be able to cover breaking news and propose and execute deeply reported and well written enterprise stories. The reporter should also be able to turn out analytical pieces, profiles, explanatory stories and blog and briefing items for our live coverage. The reporter should be energetic, tenacious, collaborative, creative and enthusiastic.
