The Times is seeking an experienced executive assistant to support the executive editor, the leader of the newsroom, in operating efficiently and effectively. This is a critical support role for the operational and administrative functioning of the executive editor’s office, and this person will work closely with newsroom leadership teams and partners across the company to ensure the executive editor is properly supported in running the news report and the operations of the newsroom. Success in this role requires organization, proactivity and discretion. A successful executive assistant must not just execute tasks but anticipate needs and develop solutions to make the executive editor’s office run as effectively and efficiently as possible. They must also be able to represent the leader they support, both internally and externally, in a manner that corresponds to the professional nature and standards of the newsroom, and to maintain strict confidentiality. Key to the role are organization, work ethic, exemplary oral and written communication skills, an ability to multi-task, proactivity in anticipating needs and judgment. A successful executive assistant is a quick study, a fast thinker, a strong writer, a self-starter, and a problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic environment and is always thinking ahead.
