Fellowship -- Digital News Design

New Posted 19 October 2022 | New York, NY | The New York Times

Join the 2023 New York Times Fellowship class as an editor in digital news design. The digital design fellowship sits at the intersection of technology, design and journalism. Fellows will work with reporters, editors, designers and developers to refine their skills as shapers of visual journalism. They will have the opportunity to craft rich story experiences for a wide range of projects, including breaking news and enterprise, across multiple platforms. Ideal candidates will have portfolios that demonstrate strong design work — including an understanding of storytelling techniques and a smart UX sensibility — and experience with web development technologies. Experience with video, audio, photography, illustration, server-side technologies and/or game mechanics is a plus. The fellow should be a quick learner with creative ideas who can work collaboratively. This program is for early-career journalists. Applicants with more than five years of full-time, professional journalism experience beyond school will not be considered. The most competitive candidates will be college graduates or postgraduates or career pivoters of any age who have had previous news or visuals internships, or equivalent experience.
