The International desk reporting fellow will be based in The New York Times’s London office, which is home to a vibrant and close-knit team. Your colleagues will be some of the best editors and reporters in the world. You’ll work closely with the head of the Europe operation and a veteran assignment editor, both of whom will support and direct your work. Your immediate peer group will be the London newsroom’s growing breaking news team. You’ll also be closely connected to the U.S.-based fellows, who regularly meet to share and learn from one another. The International fellowship is an opportunity for a journalist to build on the range of skills needed to be a foreign correspondent. In the course of the year, you will help cover breaking news in the United Kingdom and Europe. You will work closely with our London news operation to contribute to live coverage. And depending on your interests and experience, we’ll work with you to create a body of work around a line of coverage. The London newsroom is the training ground for international reporting. Our editors will guide and support you in strengthening your reporting, storytelling and breaking news skills.
