The Opinion Graphics team at The New York Times is seeking a creative visual journalist to craft ambitious digital and print opinion pieces that incorporate data visualization, maps, multimedia, interactivity, and new visual forms. This editor will collaborate with guest essayists, newsletter writers, columnists and other authors across the department and should be comfortable producing powerful versions of opinions with which they do not necessarily agree. This editor will work on opinion journalism through the full lifecycle from conception through publication: pitching ideas; pursuing leads and reporting; analyzing datasets and programming; visually designing the piece for desktop, mobile and paper; editing; publishing and promoting. The Opinion Graphics team is a small unit of thoughtful journalists who are excited by the challenge and potential of our broad remit: visually interpreting the news of the day in partnership with experts from within and outside of The New York Times.
