The Times Graphics team is looking for a skilled computer science engineer who can use AI, computer vision and machine learning in the reporting and creation of visualizations for breaking news and investigative projects. The team has used artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to help produce a number of visual projects in recent years, including a reconstruction of what was destroyed in the Tulsa Massacre, how easy it is for AI to create fake faces, and how Christian Pulisic scored a key goal during the World Cup. Working closely with fellow members of the Graphics team and journalists across the newsroom, you will play an essential role in projects that involve image and video analysis, 3D reconstruction and data visualization. You should have a strong background in computer vision, image processing and machine learning. You will train and deploy models for various visual analyses as well as develop and maintain tools.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
Programming fluency in Python, C++, or similar languages.
3+ years of experience in computer vision, image processing, and machine learning.
Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras or equivalent.
