The Real Estate desk at The New York Times covers the cultural, societal and economic impact of the industry, from buying, selling and renting to interior design and architecture. We explore where and how people live and why they love it, tolerate it or hate it. As a reporter, you will find new angles to bring a fresh perspective into the housing market. We are looking for a reporter who will investigate issues that have long plagued an industry whose workers are often overlooked. Your stories may take the form of in-depth investigations, digital-first stories, reported features, enterprise, profiles and traditional service.
Responsibilities:
Reporting several stories a month, aiming for at least one cover or major enterprise each month
Developing stories that include a wide range of voices and perspectives
Monitoring the real estate industry and trends in New York and beyond to conceive of fresh and compelling story ideas
Collaborating with visual editors and other reporters on assignments
Adhering to the Times’s editorial standards
Basic Qualifications:
5 + years as a digital lifestyle and/or real estate reporter
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proven track record of producing first in real estate and/or lifestyle journalism
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree

The annual base pay salary for this role is between $108,872.22 and $125,000.00.
