The International Desk is looking for a talented, experienced and versatile reporter to join our New Delhi bureau. In this role, you will be responsible for working with correspondents and story editors on breaking news and enterprise stories, as well as producing original work. You will conduct interviews and research to support correspondents’ work and play a critical role in tracking and covering the news and in developing enterprise stories. Experience covering business news will be an advantage, though you will also contribute to coverage of politics, culture, climate change, security and international relations, among other topics. Some assignments will involve independent travel, reporting and writing.
Our ideal candidate has deep knowledge of India and the region, is adept at identifying stories that resonate with a global audience, and is comfortable both in support roles and in independent work. Accuracy, curiosity, a healthy skepticism and attention to detail are a must, as is an ability to write clearly and concisely in English. This is a full-time, paid position.
The reporter/researcher will have a broad range of responsibilities, including:
Adhering to the highest standards of accuracy, integrity and fairness.
Conducting interviews with sources and compiling research memos.
Working closely with correspondents and editors to identify and shape news and enterprise stories, as well as suggesting story ideas and themes.
