The New York Times Video department is seeking a Senior Video Journalist to report and produce video stories in a range of formats, from short-form videos to visual articles and multimedia interactives. You have experience responding to high-stakes news events, and delivering video and multimedia stories.
You are an experienced reporter, capable of working independently and decisively. We are looking for an idea generator, who’s constantly pitching stories and developing sources, as well as someone with impeccable news instincts, ethics and judgement who thrives at finding scoops and advancing the story. You are a confident reporter in a newsroom setting, occasionally in the field. You should be eager to collaborate with other journalists and feature them on-camera.
The ideal candidate has a background in digital journalism, producing video short-form news reports in the 1-5 minute range for a largely mobile audience. Please note, this is not an entry-level position and it is not a position for someone who is interested in producing documentaries.
You are a world-class visual storyteller who works with urgency and wants to make an impact. You are someone who can take initiative on major stories and develop enterprising or exclusive angles.
This is a hybrid position based in New York and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.
