We’re looking for a digital engagement editor who can develop and execute strategies for our website, newsletters and more; someone who is comfortable using analytics to help guide our editors with content and planning; and someone who can become a star here in their own right. We prefer some background and/or training in journalism. Objective:
This position leads the digital content strategy for The Park Record.
Responsibilities:
Content marketing strategy: Sets the direction for marketing digital products (editorial, marketing and advertising) with specific digital content plans.
SEO: Ensures all content has SEO-optimized titles and descriptions. EE writes the titles and descriptions and mentors editorial staff on best practices.
Facebook: Develops a daily posting strategy that mixes links (traffic) with native posts (engagement) — timing, copy, image selection. Responding to comments and DMs and conducting outreach to other community and affinity pages for link sharing.
Follows emerging trends: Studies emerging digital trends and experiments. Shares findings with other Engagement Editors.
Cross-departmental support: Collaborates with all departments to ensure special projects reach the largest digital audience.
Tools: Chartbeat, Wordpress (CMS), Slack or Zoom, SecondStreet (contest platform), Google Analytics, Social Media Management Software, CitySpark (online calendar)
Qualifications:
Prefer a background in journalism, communications or marketing with a passion to grow our digital community.
Use of data to drive decision-making
Google Analytics and WordPress knowledge
Ability to write and edit quickly, with excellent writing and message development skills.
Must have strong attention to detail.
Creative thinker — ability to generate ideas in an energetic environment.
