Reporter - Cooking, Food & Dining

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge and in the heart of California’s Wine Country, is seeking an experienced reporter to capture the diverse stories of those who grow, cook and produce some of the best food and wine in America. We have an immediate opening for a writer who has significant experience and great passion for covering the dynamic food and dining scene in Northern California’s Sonoma County. We’re home to nationally prominent chefs, restaurants and food/drink/dining entrepreneurs and companies and nearly 400 wineries, and our award-winning content has incredibly high engagement with readers across the North Bay. This is a senior-level reporting position, not an entry-level spot. The ideal candidate would have 3-5 years of reporting experience, including significant experience covering food. A proven track record in utilizing multimedia/video/podcasts and leveraging social media is a plus. All applications must include a cover letter and samples of your best reporting and writing. This position will be part of the Lifestyles + Features Team and spearhead a weekly food section, with stories about and recipes from local chefs, restaurateurs, cookbook authors and food entrepreneurs.
