The Press Enterprise, a family-owned newspaper in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, is looking for a managing editor. The successful candidate will lead a team of five reporters who scour Columbia and Montour counties for news. Our approach is local first: We believe our readers depend on the Press Enterprise to tell them what's happening down the block rather than around the world. A successful candidate would have a love for pursuing the latest from the police blotter, the town hall and the corner diner. At the Press Enterprise, the managing editor works closely with the editor in chief and is responsible for wrangling our news reporters; coordinating with our photographers; finding and handling stringers; and deciding on the presentation of our news product, both in print and online. The managing editor also plays a key role charting our online strategy and is often the first contact the public has with our newsroom. We're looking for someone with both planning and people skills; someone who has experience in news writing and reporting; and someone who enjoys coaching others to get the best out of their stories. We offer health insurance and a 401(k) as part of our benefits package. As a bonus, life here in central Pennsylvania can be pretty great. We have easy access to outdoor pursuits from biking to kayaking to camping, but are also only about two hours from Philadelphia and New York. If you're interested, please send a letter of interest, along with resume, to editor Peter Kendron at peter.kendron@pressenterprise.net
