Are you an experienced and creative Senior Editor looking for your next exciting career move? If so, Frances Lincoln Children’s Books has an opportunity for you to join its creative team as a Senior Editor – Managing Editorial. We are looking for a highly organised candidate, with excellent attention to detail, to come on board and manage key processes.

Working hours

28 hours per week, 9.30-5.30 Monday to Thursday (four days), or 28 hours allocated across five days. We currently operate a discretionary hybrid model, with a minimum of two days in our London office (for this part-time role) and the remainder working from home.

Salary

Starting from £30,000 for 4 days per week (£37,500 full-time equivalent).

About the role

Reporting to the Publisher and liaising with key stakeholders across the business, such as Design, Production, and the Foreign Rights team, you will be responsible for managing several key processes for the Frances Lincoln Children’s Books creative team.

What you will be involved in:

Determining the book schedule at the start of each project ( 50 titles per year)
Managing start-up processes for each title
Running the work-in-progress (WIP) meetings to monitor progress
Monitoring WIP spends over the life of the project
Managing the editorial freelance process for external copy-editing and proofreading
Undertaking copy-editing and proofreading tasks as necessary
Ensuring compliance with metadata requirements for each title
Managing permission requests

About you

You will have established organisation processes and excellent communication skills, with strong attention to detail. You will have experience in managing illustrated-book projects and processes in a team context, with proven expertise in copy-editing and proofreading. Experience in working in children’s publishing is desirable but not essential.
