The Rapid City Journal is seeking a curious, intrepid, multi-tasking reporter who is also a storyteller for a general assignment reporting position.
Rapid City is the fastest growing metropolitan area in the Midwest. We are the largest, most influential newspaper in the state and we work in a super news region that is home to the stunning Black Hills, four national parks including Mount Rushmore and the Badlands, a large Air Force base, the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, and a bustling city that serves as a regional hub for tourism and commerce.
The position is part of an upbeat, collaborative newsroom and offers the opportunity to produce content for print and online on a wide variety of topics at a paper that values enterprise and watchdog reporting as well as narrative storytelling. This position may also offer opportunities to gain some editing experience for the right candidate. The ability to produce timely reports in today’s instant digital news environment is a must. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field and a minimum of a year of multi-media journalism is preferred. New graduates are welcome to apply.
