It’s an exciting time to cover real estate in Texas. It's been a key beneficiary of the remote-work phenomenon, with no state income tax and government courting businesses. Developers are responding to the growing demand for housing — and the migration of tech and financial companies to the state is bound to drive activity in the commercial market as well. Reporters will produce original news stories and in-depth features on development activity and on the people and companies central to Texas’ real estate market. The ideal candidate will have an interest in covering money and power and a keen desire to learn how the industry brings together elements of politics, business, finance and law. The ability to break news is a must, as is the ability to cultivate sources among developers, lenders, landlords and residential and commercial brokers. Experience covering real estate, politics or local news in Austin, Dallas or Houston is a plus.
