The Saratoga Sun (Saratoga, WY) has an immediate opening for a general assignment reporter.
Who are we: Since 1888, the Saratoga Sun has served the Upper North Platte River Valley making it one of the few newspapers founded prior to Wyoming statehood remaining in operation today. In 2021, the Saratoga Sun was awarded 1st Place in Editorial Excellence and won the most individual awards of any small-weekly newspaper in Wyoming. In 2022 and 2023, the Saratoga Sun took home the second most individual awards of any small-weekly newspaper in the state.
Who are you: You’re a young journalist looking to break into the industry or a seasoned reporter wanting to continue honing their craft. You produce great, clean copy for both print and digital. You’re a person who loves to tell the stories of those around you, who knows there’s a story behind the story and is community-minded and community-driven.
Where are we: An outdoor-enthusiasts paradise, the Platte Valley is home to two blue ribbon trout fisheries—the North Platte River and the Encampment River—and 2.9 million acres of National Forest land. It also has some of the most coveted hunting areas in Wyoming, natural hot springs and an active downtown.

What we expect: A general assignment reporter will be expected to write on and photograph a wide-variety of subjects ranging from high school prep sports to local government meetings, writing feature articles on Valley residents and reporting on the outdoor recreation and tourism of the area.
